Roman Empire, Augustus (27 BC-AD 14), AR Denarius, Lugdunum, 2 BC-AD 4, caesar avgvstvs divi f pater patriae, laureate head right, rev. avgvsti f cos desig princ ivvent, Gaius and Lucius Caesar, both togate, standing facing, each with a shield and spear, simpulum and lituus above, c l caesares in exergue, 3.80g (RIC 207; BMC 533; RCV 1597), unusually well-centred on a broad flan with all legends visible, a handsomely-struck portrait, toned, lustrous, good very fine.
